PREDS OVERHAUL STARTS

By: Terri Crisp August 31, 2006

Nashville - The changing of the team after a dismal performance through the tournament has started in Nashville. Preds failed to pick up a win during the tournament and were winless in the exhibition game afterwards too.

In the first deal, Preds picked up a very good defenceman in Scott Hannan. Hannan comes from the Anaheim Ducks along with prospect Carl Soderberg in exchange the Ducks get super prospects Alexandre Radulov and Anze Kopitar, who were Preds number one and two prspects respctively in the rankings.

"It was tough to give up both Radu and Kopi in the same deal but we got a very good dman who can play thirty minutes each game, and soderberg is a darkhorse pickup for us, who are scouts have really liked." Said GM Schum.

Second deal saw the Preds pick up insurance for Robert Luongo who struggled mighly in recent games. In coming is Patrick Lalime from the Dallas Stars, going to the Stars are backup goaltender Nolan Schaeffer and forward Jason Williams.

"Things didnt look too good for us in the tournament in any phase of the game, we didnt trust Schaeffer enough in order for him to put in the game, Lalime has won alot in this league and he will definately help us between the pipes." Said Coach Carlyle.

PREDS GEAR UP FOR THE TOURNEY

By: Terri Crisp August 15, 2006

Nashville - All teams are preparing for the summer tourney and what we'll see from each team is anyones guess. The Nashville Predators got grouped in a division with perenial contender LA Kings, St. Louis Blues who have generationaltalents in Ovechkin and Crosby and sim friendly Winnipeg Jets.

Heres what we should expect from this division:

Loas Angeles Kings - Loads of talent, great depth all round, this team should give the Preds everything they can handle and more. The question mark for the Kings will be in the net, can Cloutier bounce back from an injury which made him miss almost all last year. The Kings should earn a spot in the next round.

St.Louis Blues - The Blues have the ever dangerous Dominak Hasek, who can still dominate the compitition. Upfront the Blues posses the best young duo of Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. If the duo scores enough and Hasek shuts the door than Blues have a very good chance of advancing.

Winnipeg Jets - The jets lack in terms of talent, but you just cannot count GM Walsh. Noone in though the Jets would make the playoffs last year yet they took the last years Stanley cup finalists Wild to brink of elimination. Walsh hired Brent Sutter, who has won everywhere hes been, you just cannot count out the Jets.

Nashville Predators - Now the team you're interested in, The Predators have a deep lineup as well. The defence is lead by Dan Boyle who all the GMs ask about. Upfront the Preds have veterans who know how to score. Roberto Luongo has yet to live up to his expectations, can this be the start for him? Check out the Preds depth chart for full lineup changes.

THE INSIDE SCOOP: Well heres a Crispy prediction for the Preds division.

1) LA Kings 3-0-0

2) Nashville Predators 1-1-1

3) St. Louis Blues 0-1-2

4) Winnipeg Jets 0-2-1

EIGHT PLAYER TANGO

By: Terri Crisp August 11, 2006

Nashville - In a trade that took more than two weeks to develop, it saw eight players changing teams in the end. The good thing is that it is off season so time wasnt a problem for either the Nashville Predators or the Anaheim Ducks.

The trade sees Owen Nolan, Rob Schremp, Tomas Kana, Daniel Rahimi and one willion going to the Ducks for Jason Williams, Alexandre Picard, Dustin Byfuglien, Mason Raymond.

There is also a special clause in case Nolan decides to call it quits. The Ducks will get a player with an overall above 70 and a salry of under 3.5 million per year if Nolan doesnt play 10 games by January 1st 2007.

"We were looking for a permanent fix on our top two lines, Williams has good pasing skills so yashin and Bert should be seeing quality chances." Said Coach Carlyle.

The Predators will likely be sending Zach Parise down to the minors to get him playing time.

"We like what we building down in the minors, guys like Picard, Byfuglien, Raymond are developing fast and could see time with us in near future." Said GM Schum.

PREDS ADD DEPTH

By: Terri Crisp August 02, 2006

Nashville - Quick and easy, its been the theme recently for the Nashville Predators, as they made another deal without too much back and fourth. The latest move sees a tango with the Penguins.

The move sees Alexei Kovalev heading back to Pittsburgh along with a 2nd rounder. In return the Preds get Jamie Langenbruner, Zach Parise, Danny Irmen and draft picks.

"It was tough to let go of Kovalev, we had high hopes for him, we've always liked Zech Parise and we believe the next year he can really break out, Jamie adds more of what we have skill and leadership." Said GM Schum.

The trade happend quickly, GM Schum found out that Zach was on the block and made a quick call to the Penguis and in 10 mins a deal was agreed on.

PREDS ADD PATTY

By: Terri Crisp August 01, 2006

Nashville - After months of chatting with Becky Schumacher of the Hawks, GM Joe Schum has struck the second deal with Chicago in less than three weeks. The recent deal saw a four player swap and a bag full cash to Nashville.

Heading to Nasvhille are superstar Patrik Elias and depth defenceman Rick Berry and three million for salary cap issues. Going other way to Chicago are young stars Alexander Frolov and Andrej Meszaros.

The Preds were concerend of Patrik Elias' expiring contract at the end of the year so they added a clause, if Elias does not resign with the Predators, the Predators get Chicago's second rounder draft pick in 2007 and Chicago's first round draft pick in 2008.

"I'm very excited to come back to Nashville, I felt I didnt complete the job the last time I was here, I have alot of help, we will do our best to achieve the ultimate goal." Said Elias

As of now, no discussions have taken place with Anarchy Agencies about an extension but Coach Carlyle is very excited about the newest Preds.

"Elias can play all three positions, so we will try all combos, Berry is good depth defenceman, who will help us out." Said Carlyle

The Preds are said to be looking to upgrade the backup spot as of now.

BIG BAD BERT BACK IN NASHVILLE
By: Terri Crisp August 01, 2006

Nashville - The Predators broung back another familiar face on tuesday, as they welcomed back Todd Bertuzzi. In a quick and easy negiotation with the Quebec Nordiques, Big Bad Bert was brought back to nashville.

Heading to Quebec are forward Mike Knuble, prospects Nick Foligno and Matt Zaba. The Predators also get some cash, which now puts them right at the max of Cheese rule.

"I got traded from Nashville to Detroit just beofre the playoffs and we beat Nashville in the first round than, so circle is finished as I'm back. We have many offensive guys here, so we should be fine." Said Bertuzzi

Bertuzzi will likley be playing second line with Yashin and Kovalev as it seems Sundin and Sellane on his right wing have developed some good chemistry.

"This trade was easy, Bertuzzi can still score and giving up prospects wasnt a concern for us, we have more coming on the way." Said GM Schum.

It seems like the Predators are starting to sell thier prospects fro immediate help, we'll wait and see what comes next.
